Singapore Mathematical Olympiad
The Mathematical Olympiad is another programme which test the ingenuity and problem-solving ability of the participants. It helps to discover and encourage mathematical talents in secondary schools in Singapore.
Mathematics Peer tutoring for lower secondary
Peer tutoring allow students to serve as academic tutors to tutees. Through this program, tutors benefit by strengthening their mathematical concepts and learning the soft skills of compassion and patience.
International Mathematical Modeling Challenge
The International Mathematical Modeling Challenge allow students work collaboratively in teams of 4 to solve a problem by developing and applying an original mathematical model. Through this challenge, students are able to apply Mathematical concepts they have learnt or researched to solve real world problems outside of classroom context.
Mathematics and Humanities Trail at Marina Barrage
Mathematics and Humanities Trail at Marina Barrage is part of the Mid-Year Post-Exam Activities with cross-department collaboration. This allows more authentic learning with elements of National Education. Students were given a guided indoor Sustainable Gallery Tour by the PUB personnel to learn the value of resilience on how Singapore overcomes water challenge with technology. The iPad Trail provides students the opportunity to work together and explore Marina Barrage with questions that require them to think out-of-the-box.

India Local Internationalisation Trip
The local internationalisation trip is a collaborative effort between Zhenghua Secondary School and St Francis Xavier’s High School, our partner school in India.
Our students’ initial engagement with Indian culture included a guided tour through Little India, where they were treated to a sampling of Indian food and learnt of several Indian customs.
Subsequently, they linked up with the students from St Francis Xavier’s High School over Zoom, where they built understandings of how differences in cultural background may have contributed to differences in the way each country dealt with the pandemic and led to different school experiences and learning during these challenging times.
All in all, it was a fruitful interaction where our students were able to immerse in another culture that they would otherwise not experience in our local classroom.

STEM
A group of Secondary 2 students were given the opportunity to participate in our Game Design workshop. With the guidance of our teachers, the students were exposed to the fundamentals of coding using the Scratch software. As a celebration of learning, the students showcased a functional game that they had created to their peers.
Equipping students with coding skills are no doubt an essential tool them to undertake further challenges in this digital-centric world.
